Writer & Author

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. I am now officially a published writer and author. I have been writing since I learned to write in the first grade. And, I’ve always been told that I have a special knack for inspiring people with my written words. I’ve written poems, short stories, community and church newsletter articles, a song, an epitaph, and numerous quotes. And now, I’ve published a book. It took me – along with the help of my artist and seven “readers” – just over a year to write and get through the publishing process. This included establishing an LLC (Limited Liability Company) to publish my books under. Yes, there will be more books, despite those daunting times when the process seems so slow and so plodding.

So, how do I feel? Excited. Nervous. Happy. Content. Adventurous. Motivated. But the real work begins now. And so, the reason for all the tumultuous emotions. It’s time to market my current book in all the social mediums which I can learn and engage with. And, it’s time to continue the next book. Both while continuing to hold down a full-time job and manage to live in two places, as my husband and I transition from our current home to our place of retirement. It’s a challenge that keeps me hopping. So, come about nine o’clock each evening, I find myself needing to shut down, so that I can grab a few moments to reflect on what has been accomplished during my day, what was forgotten and still needs to be done the next day, and maybe even what needs to just be let go of.

To purchase my current book, just check out my books page, and click on the link provided. Whatever you do, thank you for taking time to read it, gift it or pass it on. I wish you all the best in your life. Keep reading and keep being safe out there.

Since I wrote the above, I am fully moved from city to country, have returned to office work (at least for the next few years) in a nearby town, and am writing my third book while my second book is being edited. I’m truly living the dream, so to speak. Our dream of building a home, to be our last residence on this earth, has turned into building a guest cottage we call the Little Casita. It’s almost done and then, maybe, we’ll stay living in it. I like the idea of a rustic, beach cottage, and hubs is open to the idea that it might work out for us.

To keep up with what I’m up to on a more regular basis, find me on Instagram at @virginia.alice.crawford. You can also learn more about me on the rest of this website and on Amazon at Author Central.

Thank you for your interest in my writing (big smile here!), and I wish you a lovely day.

Hi. Thank you for commenting and also asking how things are going. I’m busy promoting my first book and still trying to write my second book. Right now, I’m in the middle of a move, so it might be awhile for that.

There are several ways to get published. A lot depends on what type of writing you do, and if you want to publish traditionally – with an agent and publisher – or self-publish. There are several pros and cons to whichever way you go. I chose to self-publish because I don’t have much patience with the wheels of progress in relation to having to sit and wait to hear back from agents or publishers. Although self-publishing does require a certain amount of patience (and does test my patience, at times), it is something I feel I have some control over.

If you want to write articles, essays, or poetry, let’s say, I can put you in touch with those who know more about that type of writing. If you’d like to publish traditionally, I can also put you in touch with someone who can mentor you in that area. If you’d like to self-publish, I can certainly share more of my journey with you and you can decide if that’s for you. If so, I’ll be happy to continue to offer guidance based on my own experiences. Please feel free to email me anytime at honeysucklepublishingllc@yahoo.com.
